Towie Carved Stone Ball Art Print

The Towie Ball is the finest example of Neolithic carved stone balls in all in Scotland. It was found in Towie, Aberdeenshire and is dated to the Neolithic. It is made of black, fine-grained stone and has three intricately carved discs and one which is blank. They are special carved items in a collection of carved objects uses in parts of Scotland around 3000-2500 BCE.

Their spiral patterns and motifs are seen throughout Neolithic Scotland, specifically in passage tombs and monuments but also extend to every day items such as pottery too. It is thought that stone carvings are part of religious belief during the time, as their markings are similar to those found at Maes Howe passage tomb in Orkney which is aligned to the midwinter solstice.

Created by Ash from AshWood Candles.

- Size: A4, 210 x 300mm (8.3 x 11.8 inches).

- Printed on high-quality 220GSM matte finish inkjet photo paper.

Dry, water resistant, and vivid colour quality.
